The Welsh Government is the devolved government for Wales, and sets the policy for health and well-being.
The government’s Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy, launched in 2017 and supported by £6.8m of government funding, demonstrates how genetic and genomic technologies will be used to improve health and healthcare.
The 5-10 year plan sets out to enable enables patients and the public of Wales to benefit from better healthcare and underpins a bright future for the application of cutting-edge genomic technologies in NHS Wales.
The Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy was developed by a Welsh Government-led genomics taskforce, including key stakeholders from academia, industry, the third sector, the NHS and the public. A series of workshops and meetings across Wales played a critical role in informing and underpinning the development of the Strategy.
