The Genomics Delivery Plan for Wales 2026 – 2029

We are excited to announce that we will shortly be launching a new Genomics Delivery Plan for Wales (2026–2029), which will set out a clear and ambitious roadmap for the next three years.

Building on the strong foundations of our 2022–2025 Delivery Plan, the next phase for our national programme will begin immediately as the current plan concludes — marking a clear shift from comprehensive planning and initial implementation to full delivery. The focus is on consolidation of existing services, implementing new initiatives and expanding into additional areas of opportunity to benefit the patients of Wales.

The new Plan will reflect on the achievements so far, highlighting the impact, value and progress made across our partnership, while recognising how the broader landscape has evolved. It will also explore how Wales can collaborate more effectively — across UK nations and internationally — to develop strategic, research and commercial partnerships.

It will consider lessons learned, including the real-world challenges of delivering an ambitious programme across diverse governance structures and organisational priorities. The Plan will be structured around several key areas including genomic service delivery, research and — most importantly — people, ensuring a holistic, forward-looking approach that places our workforce and patients at the heart of genomic transformation in Wales.

How can you get involved?

We would like to provide all our stakeholders with the opportunity to engage with the development of the actions within the Plan to ensure that the content is meaningful, accurate and appropriate. We invite you to take part in an open consultation process by reviewing our draft actions and providing us with your comments and feedback.

The draft actions can be found here

Please provide feedback by completing this short survey

The consultation period will close on 4th January 2026
