GPW Newsletter: October 2026

GPW Newsletter October 2026

Welcome to the latest edition of the Genomics Partnership Wales Newsletter!

It has been an incredibly busy summer, with exciting developments taking place across the programme.

In July, we welcomed a new cohort of members to our Patient and Public Sounding Board. In this issue, we introduce some of our newest members and learn more about their motivations for joining and the experiences they bring to the programme. We also catch up with Rhiannon Edwards to hear more about her first few months as Rare Disease Consultant Nurse, a pioneering role that aims to improve support and outcomes for people living with rare diseases across Wales.

Elsewhere, colleagues from the Public Health Wales Pathogen Genomics Unit share some of the remarkable achievements taking place within their team, while we look back at the recent visit of the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care to the Canolfan Iechyd Genomig Cymru, where partners showcased the collaborative work helping to advance genomics and improve patient care.

Looking ahead, we’re also preparing for the North Wales Genomics Showcase on 19 November, which will bring together colleagues and partners to celebrate progress, share learning and explore the growing impact of genomics across Wales.

As always, we welcome your feedback. If you would like to share your thoughts on this newsletter, please email GenomicspartnershipWales@wales.nhs.uk.
