Festival of Genomics and Biodata 2024- Come and see us at stand 136

From 24th – 25th January 2024, Genomics Partnership Wales (GPW) will be exhibiting at the Festival of Genomics & Biodata at ExCeL London.

This is the UK’s largest and most exciting event for the genomics and biodata community, bringing together experts from all over the world for talks, roundtables, panel discussions and workshops.

GPW will be exhibiting at stand 136, alongside some of our key partners – All Wales Medical Genomics Service, Wales Gene Park and the Public Heath Wales Pathogen Genomics Unit. We’re really excited to welcome visitors to our stand to discuss some of the ground-breaking work taking place within the genomics community in Wales and what this means for the Welsh population and beyond.

In addition to our stand, the speaker schedule for the event features some of the leading representatives from within Welsh genomics. These speakers will be sharing their specialised expertise on a number of exciting topics and showcasing Wales as an industry pioneer within this field.

Day 1

Sophie Harding

Advanced Oncology Pharmacist, Velindre and Clinical Lead in Pharmacogenomics for Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW)

  • Wednesday January 24th (Day 1)

Sophie will be leading a session on the role of pharmacy in health care and pharmacogenomics, and how this will continue to be implemented across Wales.

Tom Connor 

Head of Public Health Genomics Programme, Public Health Wales

  • Wednesday, January 24th (Day 1)
  • 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM
  • Park Stage

 

Tom will be leading a session on the role of bioinformatics in the clinical genomics process and highlighting the importance of a digital infrastructure to enable nationwide pathogen genomics services in Wales.

Day 2

Rob Orford 

Chief Scientific Adviser for Health, Welsh Government

  • Thursday January 25th (Day 2)
  • 4:10 PM to 5:10 PM

Rob will be taking part in a panel discussion on how Life Sciences in the UK are continuing to develop and how we plan to level up.

Magda Meissner 

Liquid Biopsy Lead, All Wales Medical Genomic Services

  • Thursday January 25th (Day 2)
  • 3:10 PM to 3:40 PM
  • Main Stage

Magda will be appearing alongside Craig Maxwell to discuss the QuicDNA Liquid Biopsy Clinical trial and how this is being implemented into the diagnostic pathway for lung cancer patients in Wales.
